Support Adam's Kidney Transplant Journey

Donation protected

Our family needs your help to finance an extended stay in Rochester. We will be assisting Adam, our beloved son/uncle/brother in his recovery from a lifesaving kidney transplant. Our family has been deeply involved with Adam’s care throughout his chronic kidney disease. Dria and Dayson have been his guardian angels and are very much responsible for Adam’s daily progress. We need that to continue as Adam undergoes the challenge of a lifetime. Adam is our “Warrior” and “His fight is our fight”. We invite you to be part of this miracle through our GoFundMe effort.

Adam is 38 years young, in stage 5 kidney disease, and in need of a transplant to save his life. His journey for a cure began in February 2023 at Mayo clinic. Since then, he has completed six 2-to-4- day trips to Mayo as well as many virtual appointments with his medical team. He has been on multiple injections and oral medications requiring frequent monitoring, including blood draws 1 to 3 times per month. He had bariatric surgery in October 2023, requiring 2 months of liquid diets, 7 days of outpatient IV treatments, and of course long-term dietary restrictions. He has lost over 60 pounds. Adam has also had his share of emergency room visits. Each time we fear total kidney failure but miraculously he has retained enough kidney function to avoid dialysis.

Because of Adam's outstanding compliance with recommended care and the amazing strides he has made, the Mayo Clinic Selection Committee approved Adam for transplant in April 2024! Karen donated a kidney on Adam's behalf in May (Our Hero/Angel), therefore Adam is expected to receive a kidney from an anonymous donor in July through the National Kidney Registry's voucher program.

In case you don't know Adam personally, he has “a heart the size of Texas” according to his friends (And a personality only his twin sister could love—JK—he is charming, witty, sensitive and has never met a stranger. He's not just my wombmate but my best friend. I couldnt be more proud). He is courageous, patient and kind - the epitome of a Christian, God-centered man. His worship of and devotion to God is admirable. Adam is beyond proud of his Native American heritage. He cherishes his tribal friendships and all friends and family (blood and adoptive). He will be eternally grateful for all your prayers, love, and support.

Adam will be hospitalized 5 to 7 days at Rochester Methodist Hospital on the unit where Karen/Nina began her nursing career 45 years ago. Family members will be staying with him in Rochester for up to 4 additional weeks for his aftercare until he is stable enough to return to Granite Falls. Expenses have been and will be substantial. We need your help!
