Support Adam's Fight Against Diabetic Retinopathy
Donation protected
Type 1 diabetic retinopathy is a serious eye complication of type 1 diabetes, caused by damage to the tiny blood vessels in the retina that causes blindness. Adam has been battling diabetes since he was a kid, but now the battle has gone to the next level. Adam has had retinopathy for years, but in 2024 his vision took a turn for the worse. After Adam saw a floater in his vision, the doctors told him his eyes were consumed with damage from the retinopathy.
Adam has had countless injections, he's had 5 surgeries on the left eye and 1 on the right eye. Even with these surgeries, Adam's vision is only minimal at best. The numerous bleeds have come out of nowhere in the right eye and can take weeks to months to absorb. Meanwhile, the left eye's vision is 20/600, which is legally blind. Next week, Adam has surgery scheduled on his left eye for cataract removal, possible oil removal, and a new lens to be put in with hopes of getting his vision to 20/100.
Adam is no longer able to work and now needs help doing basic needs of each day. Adam is working on getting set up with disability, but that takes time.
Adam and Amanda's lives have been flipped upside down with these changes, but their faith in Christ has never wavered. They continue to lift Adam's vision up to the Lord all while remembering God's promises for healing.
All of the doctor appointments, injections, surgeries, and countless days off work have hit really hard for Adam and Amanda. I am asking for you to not only lift Adam and Amanda up in prayer but to help financially. Please help us raise $5000 to help cover medical bills, travel expenses to/from the UK, lodging, and food.
(Amanda also has Venmo if go fund me is not your favorite choice. Her Venmo is @ahodges2020 Just label it Adams eye journey)
