2003, Iraq Invasion. I was deployed with the 3rd Infantry Brigade as a dental assistant when it all started. As a soldier in a forward support unit, we had to help burning everything we used as there was no trash services for us at first. While burning everything in the burn pits, we weren’t given any type of protection for breathing, so we breathed everything in from plastics to feces to oil. You name it, we breathed it in.

As the weeks went on, I became ill with pain in my abdomen. I developed chronic pancreatitis and had to set out some of my deployment in the emergency triage unit. Fast forward a couple of months and I had to do a colonoscopy and the doctors found I had calcification in my kidneys and lungs that they did not tell me about. This caused me to get a pseudocyst on my pancreas which caused me to get type 3c diabetes from the pancreatitis which also caused high blood pressure. The calcification on the kidneys caused kidney failure which put me on dialysis for life.
In 2005, while stationed in Fort Drum NY, I was rushed to the hospital for my pancreas enzymes being over 40,000x more than they should have been. The hospital kept me in a room for over 3 months to monitor me and do tons of x-rays and things in nuclear medicine to see if my pancreas was settled down enough to operate on me. This was in February when I went to the hospital and my surgery was in July. After surgery, the hospital gave me a TPN line (baby formula in the veins). My TPN line got infected so the doctor did a spinal tap on me to make sure I didn’t have spinal meningitis. I however had a 108 fever when I arrived to the hospital, which they had to drown my body in ice at the time and give me Tylenol injections to make sure my fever went down.
I found out 3 months ago in January 2025 from my dietician that I have skin cancer now when she checked me out in an appointment. She determined that this was caused from the burn pits and I had to go on the inactive list for transplant. March 28, 2025, I had a biopsy and surgery on my head to remove the cancer and a plastic surgeon had to make a 12-inch incision on the back of my head in order to pull the skin over the wound to cover it.
The reason for this is because my house I bought in 2022, the home inspection wasn’t done correctly and the home inspector lied to get the VA to approve the loan, which the electric panel was over-wired with too many things, which caused an outage in my house where a few rooms do not work at all for electricity. I had to move my dialysis machine to a room where the power still worked and it’s a lot smaller than the room I was using.
Things have been difficult for me because of this but I keep going, and still work. I haven’t given up even though I’m as sick as I am.
I’ve been to the ER in the last month 4 times for my blood pressure and my head surgery because my blood pressure has been 230+/120 and I had a hematoma in my head where I had to drain over ¼ pint of old, black blood out of my wound and have it restitched up.
So if you could donate in order for my Wife and I to have the electrical fixed in our home. This will greatly reduce any failure of my medical equipment and keep me alive.
