I'm raising funds for my husband, Adam. Adam is 37, and a few weeks ago he went to the doctor for back pain and shortness of breath. After he pushed for X-rays, because he felt like something just wasn't right, they found blood on his right lung. He was sent straight to the ER for a CT scan and admitted to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for 5 days, where doctors inserted a chest tube and drained over a liter of blood from his lung. Follow-up scans found a tumor in his chest cavity, and after a biopsy and PET scan, Adam was diagnosed with stage 2 synovial sarcoma, which is a very rare type of soft tissue sarcoma.

Right now, we are in the early stages of figuring out treatment. Adam has follow-up appointments scheduled with a surgeon and a sarcoma specialist on Aug. 25, and surgery will be scheduled soon to remove the tumor along with part of his chest wall, which will then need to be reconstructed. It is still unclear whether he will also need chemotherapy or radiation.

Adam is the sole breadwinner for our family, and his lost wages have put us in a really hard financial position. I am a stay-at-home mom to our two boys, Bubba, 8, and Cody, 2, and I am 8 months pregnant with our third son, Willie, with a C-section scheduled for Sept. 14. We are trying to keep up with doctor appointments, phone calls, referrals, getting ready for the upcoming school year, and preparing for our new baby, all while facing the reality that we currently have no income coming in.

Donations will help us cover the basics that keep our family going: groceries, school supplies, baby supplies, household bills, our mortgage, pet food for our 3 dogs and 4 cats, and medical bills if parts of Adam's treatment are not covered by insurance.

If you are able to give or share this fundraiser, it would help our family stay afloat while Adam goes through treatment and works toward getting back on his feet. We are doing our best to stay positive and focus on what we can do each day, and any support truly means so much to us.
