Support Adam Strebe's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Derek Reiter. I’ve known Adam Strebe for the last 20 years, and our friendship truly grew once we both discovered our love for motorcycles. Over the past two decades, we’ve made countless friends and memories through riding. Our families have grown together and continue to grow. Adam and his family have become our family over the years. With that being said,

On October 20th, Adam Strebe was involved in a life-threatening motorcycle accident. He was airlifted to ThedaCare in Neenah, where he underwent emergency surgery to repair internal bleeding. Once stabilized, the medical team focused on conducting scans to assess his other injuries. They discovered facial fractures, broken ribs, and some road rash. The most severe injury was to his spine, which is still being fully evaluated at this time.

These injuries will be life-altering for Adam and his family. He and Cassandra have a five-year-old son, Ben, and they are expecting a baby girl in January. As you can imagine, the medical bills and out-of-pocket expenses, including travel to the medical center, will quickly become overwhelming. We want to help alleviate some of the burden they will face. If you’re able to contribute in any way, please consider donating. If anyone would like to assist in other ways, please feel free to reach out.

UPDATE from Cassandra 10/23/24:

I know a lot of you have been wondering about Adam’s true physical condition since his motorcycle accident on Sunday, October 20th. With Adam’s permission, we have decided that it’s time to share the details.

As we’ve shared previously, Adam’s most severe injury was to his spine with fractures beginning at T5 through T9. His surgery was to complete a fusion starting from T3-T10 which included many screws and rods to be placed.
The doctors have not ruled this to be either a complete vs incomplete spinal cord injury at this exact moment, but based off Adam’s limitations, they are believing it to be complete. This is with an extreme amount of pain that I write to update you all, Adam has no feeling or movement, from his chest down.
Adam has an extremely long road to recovery to live a very different, but what will still be a wonderful life with myself, our five year old son, Ben and our daughter due in January.
As you can imagine, Adam is not only dealing with an immense amount of physical pain, but he has a lot of emotional and mental pain that comes with the news he’s been given. As expected, it’s been difficult for him to find a silver lining. However, I speak personally when I say that I am grateful for him to have a sound mind, and complete feeling and function of both arms.
He will still get to see and hold his baby girl, he will still give Ben high fives, knucks and hugs and he will still kiss me and hold me close. These are so many things to be grateful for.
Adam will be starting physical therapy as early as tomorrow as long as things continue the way they are. The goal is to teach him how to be as independent as possible given his condition.
Obviously, this type of news comes along with knowing that many changes need to be made, equipment needs to be purchased and help will be needed. We truly appreciate all the love and support everyone has shown us. If you know Adam, you know that he has never been the greatest at asking for or accepting help. Right now, he only knows a small fraction of the amount of love and support people have provided and he is in complete disbelief of how generous and loving you’ve all been.
Our journey ahead is going to face many obstacles and challenges that we have never encountered but with our AMAZING support system, I’m truly confident that we will still live a fulfilling and beautiful life because as Ben says “we all still have each other.” And that is enough worth living for.

The family has created a Caring Bridge account where they have provided more information regarding the incident and will be posting updates to his recovery. Please use this link to stay updated (please note that any donations you make on the Caring Bridge site, go only towards the site and not towards the family).
