In August 2023, Adam (kid-O) was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer. The physical and life threatening implications of cancer are undeniably sad and terrifying as we follow Adam's journey.
However, there is a less obvious burden: the financial impact of cancer. The increased burden and anxiety from the double hit of reduced income and increased costs whilst physically and emotionally dealing with the impact of cancer.
Many individuals find themselves in serious financial difficulty and are forced to rely on improvised financial solutions, such as selling assets or borrowing from friends and family members.
Emily and Adam need our help! As Emily continues to be strong for Adam, being his support system, medical advocate and carer, she is also facing the challenges of trying to hold down a job and pay their household bills while Adam is unable to work; focussing on fighting to get well. This week she found out her electricity was almost turned off as this was a bill that Adam managed and they were $2,000 in debt. Rent was due and just in time they were able to get a one off 'stop homelessness' grant of $1,500 to cover a portion of their rent. Emily was so grateful, but this is just this month and next month will come. She is desparately spending her limited hours searching for grants that require application submission and usually are one-off and equate to a couple hundred dollars at most.
Life is precious and Emily and Adam are taking one day at a time. Finances shouldn't be another stress to worry about; all that matters is getting Adam better. Emily would never ask for any financial support from any of us because she is strong and will fight for other solutions - but she shouldn't have to ask and she shouldn't have this worry!
I'd like to raise enough funds for Emily and Adam so that Emily doesn't have to worry about the deficit in finances with Adam not working at the moment over the next 6 months.
Please support Emily and Adam! This money will go directly to them to pay outstanding and future finance deficits that continue to build up.
We are all routing for Adam and let's show them our continued support.
Love and Gratitude xx
