Adalyns Story: On August 31st Kayla and Dustin took Adalyn to the ER Silver Cross. This wasn’t the first time she had been brought to a hospital to be evaluated. They had been trying to figure out why Adalyn wasn’t putting on much weight, why she was so much more tired than your average newborn, why she was vomiting daily, amongst a host of other things. Blood tests were coming back normal, ultrasounds of her stomach were coming back fine. She was transferred to Luries Childrens Hospital in Chicago where they ran even more tests where Kayla and Dustin were then informed she had a problem with her heart. Who would have thought? She is .02% of people suffering from CHD with this specific disease. From there on everything moved pretty quickly. The team of Doctors met up Tuesday, and they decided that they would prep her the following day at 7am for open heart surgery. Around 1:30 pm Kayla and Dustin received a call saying the surgery was a success and everything went well. Instant relief as everyone cried and thanked God for holding her heart. Their journey isn’t over yet. We’re still not sure what recovery looks like. Although, at this time she’s progressing as expected. However Kayla had to leave her job about a month ago due to Addie’s health problems leaving Dustin to provide for his family. They are not sure when he will be able to return to work, and would like to spend as much time focusing on helping their girl heal. If anyone has an extra dollar that could help them for the road ahead it would be a blessing. If not please share, not just for assistance but for awareness. Trust your instincts as a parent regardless of what the doctors say. Continued prayers are welcome. She’s so special, she’s so strong, she’s so brave, and she is so loved❤️
