Hi, my name is Erin, and I’m a mom fighting to keep my family afloat after a year that changed our lives forever.
Our daughter, Adalynn, is truly the strongest little girl we know. She was born with developmental hip dysplasia, a condition that caused her pelvis to form incorrectly—she was essentially missing a proper ball-and-socket hip joint.
On September 26, 2025, Adalynn underwent an 8-hour surgery at the children’s hospital in Hershey to build her a hip joint. It was a long and emotional day, but she came through incredibly brave. After spending several days in the hospital, she returned home in a full-body cast, requiring constant care.
We were so grateful to have my mom step in and help care for Adalynn during the day while we adjusted to her needs and recovery.
But just weeks later, on October 24, we were rushed back to the hospital. Adalynn began showing signs of sepsis—she stopped eating and drinking and developed a fever. It was terrifying. Doctors had to remove her cast, and she remained hospitalized for several days, where she also developed an ileus, adding to her complications.
During this time, I was trying to continue teaching while managing everything at home, but the emotional and physical toll became too much. In December, I made the difficult decision to step away from my teaching position—not only for my own mental health, but because I wanted to ensure my students had a teacher who could give them their very best, something I felt I could no longer do at that time.
After months of recovery and healing, I’m happy to share that Adalynn has made incredible progress. She has been working hard in physical therapy and has even learned to walk on her own. Watching her take those steps has been nothing short of a miracle.
I recently returned to work on April 7, 2026, as a floating teacher at our local IU, and I truly love what I do. We are slowly rebuilding, and we feel incredibly blessed for how far Adalynn has come.
However, the reality is that this journey has taken a significant financial toll on our family. Between medical care, time away from work, and daily living expenses, we have fallen behind. Right now, we are facing the very real threat of foreclosure on our home.
We are asking for help to catch up on our bills and keep a safe, stable home for our strong and beautiful little girl.
Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. And if you’re unable to give, sharing our story would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your support, and for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.
