Hi! I’m John Ciesniewski! My niece Kari Brewton was married to Abundio (Junior) Soriano on October 16, 2024. Two weeks after their wedding, Abundio was diagnosed with AML Leukemia, a very rare and aggressive cancer of the blood. Abundio is immunocompromised and undergoing an intense 30-day treatment at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. Following treatment, Abundio will be quarantined at home for six months and unable to return to work. Although Abundio and Kari have good health insurance, as newly married and new homeowners, they are not prepared for 7 months without Abundio’s income. In addition, Kari resigned from a part-time job in order to spend time with Abundio and to meet his needs. As a Pastor and Kari’s uncle, I’m keenly aware of the physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial toll this will have on Kari and Abundio.
