Abraham, a loving husband and father of four, who has lived in the US since he was 8 years old, has been in ICE detention since February 2025. Abraham is facing the horrific possibility that he will be deported to his birth country of Suriname, where he has no family or familiarity with the culture.
Abraham’s detention has left his wife, Joanna, who is already working full-time, to carry the overwhelming burden of trying to keep the household afloat alone. The debt amassed due to the loss of Abraham’s income has become unmanageable. The family’s four children—ages 22, 15, 14, and 9 years—have been doing their best to stay strong through the separation, continuing to excel in school, sports, and other activities despite their father’s absence. Two children have health conditions that require ongoing care, adding significant medical expenses on top of everyday costs and mounting legal fees.
This family has shown extraordinary resilience, but they cannot do this alone. Your support will help cover essential living expenses, medical bills, and the legal representation needed to reunite them.
If you’re able, please consider contributing or sharing their story with others who may want to help. Every gesture of support makes a meaningful difference.
