Support Abi’s Recovery, ACL Surgery Fund

Hi, my name is Isabelle Mapanao. I’m originally from Switzerland and currently living in the United States as a college student-athlete. I’m raising money for my teammate and close friend, Abigail Leake, an international student from England, who currently lives in Missouri, USA.

Abi and I have played college soccer together since our freshman year in Louisiana. This summer, we both stayed in the U.S. because we couldn’t afford to fly home. We were recruited to play for Missouri Reign, a semi-professional team.

Unfortunately, just two days in, during a media day scrimmage, Abi tore her ACL while running with the ball no contact, no foul, just a tragic moment. She collapsed in pain, and we immediately knew it was serious.

The total cost of the ACL surgery is over $20,000, but after insurance coverage, Abi still owes $5000, with $2,500 required upfront to book the surgery. She cannot afford this amount, especially as an international student living alone in the U.S.

All donations will go directly toward the $2,500 surgery fees

, and I will personally transfer the funds to Abi’s U.S. bank account so they can be paid to the hospital billing department here in Missouri.

Abi is set to begin her senior year at Stevens College this fall. This surgery is the first step toward recovery, both physically and emotionally, and we hope she’ll be able to play again next year.
