Support Abigail Martinez's Kidney Transplant Journey

Hello, my name is Gabrielle, and I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my mother, Abigail Martinez. Abigail is a 43-year-old mother of four and grandmother of three who is currently experiencing kidney failure. She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the age of 20 in March 2002, only to find out in 2022 that she was misdiagnosed and actually was type 1 diabetic. Due to this oversight, she now suffers through kidney failure. My family and I are now reaching out for help.

Abigail is a lively, strong and independent woman. She enjoys gardening, sunbathing, watching her grandchildren play, puzzles, Jurassic Park, dog-watching, and many more things.

My mother was diagnosed with stage 1 kidney failure in the beginning of 2024. Doctors had assured her that she would be fine. It wasn't until March of this year that we found out that it had progressed into stage 4 kidney failure and would need a transplant, so we're trying to secure funds. We're unsure of the cost of the transplant itself, so all we're asking is help for funding her dialysis treatment. We hope that insurance will help with the transplant itself, but we won't be sure until we get closer to the procedure.
