Hi, I’m Abigail Porttris, and I’m 14 years old. I’ve been dancing since I was three, with tap being my first love. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to grow as a dancer, training not only in tap but also in jazz, ballet, lyrical, and contemporary. Each of these styles has helped me become a more well-rounded performer, strengthening my technique and allowing me to express myself in different ways.

This October, I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to compete as part of Team Canada Tap at an international competition in Prague, Czech Republic. It’s an incredible chance to represent my country and showcase the skills I’ve worked so hard to develop.

In addition to my competitive dance journey, I’ve also had the privilege of teaching others, especially in Métis jigging, and sharing the joy of dance with students of all ages. It’s been such a rewarding experience, and it’s helped me grow not just as a dancer, but as an educator and leader.

Competing in Prague is a dream come true, but it comes with significant costs. To make this opportunity a reality, I’m working to raise funds for my travel, training, and competition expenses. Any contribution you can make will help me get one step closer to achieving this goal and representing Canada on the world stage.
