Support Abeline Moose's Journey to Health
Donation protected
Our takoja (granddaughter) Abeline Moose has Cartilage Hair Hyperplasia. She was born on Dec. 18, 2024. This pretty much means that she will be short the rest of her life, which is ok, however there are other health problems that come with it. When she was 6 days old, they did surgery to remove a piece of her colon. The next major hurdle was the extreme immune deficiency. We would learn that it would be detrimental for her to come home at any time, so she had to stay in the hospital while she waited to get a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). A part of the BMT is going through Chemotherapy to make room for the new Bone Marrow.
After the BMT was completed, she would have to stay near the hospital for at least 100 days. She took to the BMT, which has been a big accomplishment. Her 100 days will be up on July 19, however has an appointment with the GI doctor. She has a GI tube for feeding and still has a central line. She is almost there, but her mom and dad have been without work for 6 months. They had some money saved and our tribe has been helping out. We are also extremely grateful for the Ronald Mcdonald House Charities and Sanford Children's Hospital and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.
Mom (Shaylee) and dad (JJ) are also worried about hospital visits and doctor appointments after she gets home. We live in a very rural area. They know for sure she will have ongoing check-ups in Minneapolis, a 6-hour drive for us. We are very thankful to have made it this far with Abeline and look forward to her coming home. This last push for donations will help them tremendously because their savings is almost gone.
