Support Abby's Journey to Health

Friends and family are coming together to support Abby McIvor and her family as she battles a rare and complicated case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Funds are being raised to help the McIvor family with previous and future treatments, therapies, and other related expenses (meals, transportation etc.)

Abby began to show signs of mental and social struggles in December 2021. The extreme extent of her rare case was not known until August 2023. After multiple hospitalizations and therapy programs all failed to significantly help, Abby's condition worsened, and she began having seizures. Westwood Institute for Anxiety Disorders (WIAD) finally did a thorough assessment and diagnosed her with severe OCD, alongside several other disorders including Autism, that had masked themselves over the years, finally all erupting together in 2023. This resulted in severe depression and anxiety, hindering Abby's ability for day-to-day functioning. 

Since beginning the intense treatment at WIAD, Abby has made significant improvement. However, with multiple complications spanning various medical disciplines, it is taking more time than previously thought to bring her to a place of full functioning. Unfortunately, while mental health disorders are just as serious as other chronic health problems such as diabetes, insurance still barely touches the cost of treatment. $100,000 is the estimated need for the immediate future, in addition to the already vast previous medical costs. Abby's family is setting the goal here for $20,000, in the hopes that this will help get them on their way. Thank you for your prayers and support. Abby is 17 years old, and is eagerly waiting for her postponed senior year to begin in the fall. She longs to see how her love of music and horses, alongside these trying experiences, will be used by God in her future. She lives in Fullerton, CA with her sister and parents, where her Dad is the pastor at Calvary Community Church of Fullerton.
