Support Abby Stoneking's Medical Journey

Christian and Whitney - High school sweethearts who couldn’t wait to start a family as well as help others who needed a home. At the age 21 Christian and Whitney started their journey as foster parents while trying to have a family of their own. They were blessed with Abby shortly after being approved as foster parents. Abby was 2 with multiple health issues. Abby made sure on night 1 she was going to break Christian & Whitney in quick, she pulled her G tube out. Day 1, in the ER. Fast forward 5 years and she is still doing the same, keeping her parents on their toes. Yes, parents. They adopted Abby a year after fostering her at the age of 3.

Abby Mae is now 7 years old and attends Aurora Elementary. Along with multiple other health issues Abby girl has battled through the years, Abby has severe Ventricular Septal Defect - VSD and is currently in pulmonary hypertension. For those that don’t know, VSD refers to a hole or opening in the wall that separates the two lower chambers of the heart. Abby has a large hole that needs repaired. Thankfully Cincinnati Children’s despite the risk has now approved this surgery and they will not have to travel to Chicago. Abby is currently scheduled to have lifesaving surgery at the end of March. With this surgery comes multiple unknowns and possible risks. A few of the risks include neurological injuries (strokes, seizures and paralysis), arrhythmias, need for a pacemaker, continued need for a trach, chylothorax, need for prolonged intubation, and the need for reoperation. There are more risks and the need for additional surgeries cannot be determined until after this surgery is complete to see if there are additional smaller holes that need repair, or a pacemaker placed. These are just a few of the medical details about what Miss Abby and her wonderful family are battling right now.

Here is where we can come in and help take some of the stress off of them. Christian works full-time and works lots of overtime to support the family. Whitney was a full-time hair stylist who just couldn’t shake the need to do more and decided her life wasn’t hectic enough and threw herself into full-time nursing school and works at the salon on weekends. The family relies on both incomes however, Whitney will not be working at all and Christian will be taking a few days off for the surgery but unfortunately will have to return to work in order to support the family. If we could raise some money to help ease some of the financial burden that they will be faced with, that would help tremendously and hopefully allow Chirstian to take additional time off work. Abby will be in the hospital for at least 2-3 week post operation. The length would change if additional surgery were needed.

Along with Abby, Christian and Whitney have Brantley- 5, who they also fostered and adopted and their miracle baby Kohen - 1, their journey for becoming pregnant and Kohen’s birth is one to share another time, that to was full of ups and down, heartbreaks, IVF and everything in between but ended with a beautiful baby boy while Christian had emergency surgery right after he was born, literally was in the ER while Whitney was laboring and wheeled away after Kohen was born. The Stoneking's have a way to add a little razzle dazzle to everything they do in life. :)

The money raised will help with finances while Whitney is not working at all, Christian taking time off work, gas to and from the hospital, food while at the hospital, care for the younger kids and everything in between.

As we all know times are tough for everyone, if you are unable to donate at this time, all the prayers are greatly welcome and shares of this GoFundMe would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any and all thoughts, prayers and financial help.
