Support Abbey’s medical care for Kidney Disease

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Rachel, and I’m reaching out for help for my sweet 16-year-old morkie, Abbey. Abbey isn’t just a pet… she’s family. She was a gift from my late father back in 2009, and she has been my constant source of love, comfort, and connection to him ever since.

A few days ago, while I was away for a short trip, Abbey stopped eating. When I came home, I found her struggling to stand - she kept stumbling every time she tried to get up, though her eyes lit up when she heard my voice. I rushed her to the vet immediately, and the moment we arrived, they called a “code yellow” that’s when four vet techs ran to her side. It was one of the scariest moments of my life.

After running initial tests, the vet told me that Abbey is suffering from kidney disease. Thankfully, her blood work showed that her kidneys are still functioning and she’s not yet in kidney failure, which gives us hope. However, to fully understand how advanced her condition is, the vet also recommended an ultrasound to determine the severity of her kidney damage and guide her treatment plan.

Abbey needs to be hospitalized for at least two days for IV fluids and antibiotics, and to undergo the ultrasound and continued monitoring. The total cost of this care is $6,000 upfront and I’ve already spent $4,000 on her initial exams, blood work, and emergency vet visits. I’ve done everything I can on my own, but I’ve reached a point where I simply can’t cover the rest by myself.

Abbey has been by my side through every chapter of my life since my dad passed away. She’s my heart, one of my last living connections to him and I can’t imagine not giving her every possible chance to get better. Our other dog, Finn, has been waiting for her at home, missing his sister and looking for her around the house. We’re all hoping she’ll be back home soon, healthy and happy again.

If you’re able to help even a small amount it would mean the world to me. Every donation will go directly toward Abbey’s hospital stay, ultrasound, medications, and follow-up care. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would help just as much.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading Abbey’s story and for helping us fight for her recovery. ❤️

With gratitude,
Rachel, Abbey & Finn
