My name is Sarah, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of one of my best friends, Katelynn and her husband, Aaron. With their permission, I’m helping raise funds to ease the extraordinary financial burden they are facing following Aaron’s recent liver transplant and upcoming kidney transplant. I’ve seen firsthand the strength and resilience Aaron and Katelynn have shown during this difficult time. My hope is that together, we can help them focus on the transplant and recovery rather than mounting financial debt.
In May of last year, Aaron and Katelynn finally realized their dream of moving back to Western NC – something they had always hoped to do. However, shortly after their move, they would face one of the biggest challenges of their lives – Aaron would need a life-saving liver transplant.
Since October of 2025, their journey has been filled with extended hospital stays at Duke, difficult conversations, and an overwhelming mix of hope and fear. Aaron received a new liver in November. With the help of family and their own savings, Aaron and Katelynn were able to carry the heavy financial burden that came with the transplant and recovery – hotel stays, travel to Duke, medical bills, anti-rejection medications, and loss of income due to time away from work for both Aaron and Katelynn.
Unfortunately, Aaron has learned that he will now need a kidney transplant. The need for dialysis and the transplant and recovery ahead will take a financial toll on them that they cannot bear alone. This GoFundMe is an effort for all who know and love Aaron and Katelynn, to come together to help ease the extraordinary financial burden that lies ahead, so that they can focus on Aaron’s recovery.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page, sending a message, or keeping them in your prayers would mean so much. The support that Aaron and Katelynn have already received has been overwhelming and is a powerful reminder of the difference a caring community can make.
Thank you for helping Aaron and Katelynn along this arduous journey!
