UPDATED - Oct 20th, 2021
This is an update I never thought our family would have to give...but Aaron's cancer in BACK!
Having completed his last chemo treatment back in April of this spring, Aaron had been feeling better, getting back to a somewhat normal routine, having 2 clean sets of scans in April and July, starting back to school this fall and getting ready to start a new job.
On September 29th, one year to the day of his surgery to reconstruct his right cheek bone, Aaron had a massive bleed on his brain leading to a stroke which initially left his entire left side of his body paralyzed. He had emergency craniotomy surgery that evening to stop the bleeding and save his life. Dr's removed approximately a 4"x 4" piece of his skull and literally are storing it in his abdomen and he is wearing a protective helmet until they can safely put it back in place. (This may not happen for 2-3 months).
While searching for reasons as to what caused the brain bleed, multiple scans, biopsies and multiple opinions from other Sarcoma experts around the country, his oncology team at Rush University have determined that his cancer has indeed returned, this time on his brain. It's a very small tumor towards the back of the brain on the same side as the original tumor last year.
While his paralysis has thankfully subsided, he is walking and talking at about 85%-90%, the bleed/stroke has left him with limited eye function on his left side. We're hoping that is being caused by the swelling left by the bleed and surgery and will eventually correct itself. He will also begin to have both physical and occupational therapy to rebuild his strength and cognitive abilities. Lindsey has taken a leave of absence from work as Aaron needs full time supervision needing help to even walk to the bathroom.
So tomorrow, 10/21 we begin the journey of fighting this awful disease again! Aaron will be starting a new set of chemo treatments and parallel pathing proton radiation therapy at the same time. Aaron will undergo 2 full cycles of chemo and 6 weeks (30 treatments) of radiation. Dr's plan on doing more scans in December/January upon completion of the initial treatment plan to decide on next steps. That could include more surgery or most certainly more chemo after that.
Aaron's emotions this time are much more fragile...so we're trying to help him find that FIGHT again! He of course is scared and is very concerned about why this is happening to him again after such a valiant fight this first go around!
The Sinta family has been blessed with incredible support from family and friends both near and far and we appreciate all of your love, prayers and support! We need them more than ever now as we begin this journey to get Aaron healthy again!

Right now, one of our brothers and his family needs our love and support. Recently Chris and Lindsey Sinta received difficult news that their 19 year old son Aaron has been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. In May, Aaron was not feeling well and had swelling to the side of his face by the right eye, went to urgent care and was prescribed antibiotics. After a few weeks the pain had come back and Aaron ended up back in the ER. Fortunately, doctors ran more extensive tests including several biopsies to determine what was wrong with Aaron and after a long week of uncertainty determined it was Ewing Sarcoma.
The delicate location of Aaron’s cancer has forced the team of 20+ doctors and nurses to develop a course of treatment that includes many weeks of chemotherapy, at least 2 surgeries, bone marrow testing and many additional months of chemotherapy. Aaron and his family are about to embark on a long journey and this extended family is committed to being a part of that journey because Aaron could be any of our children and he needs us to wrap our collective arms around him and his family as they move forward.
It is rare if a day goes by that “The Ladies,” as we so affectionately call our group chat, does not start up early the morning and end late in the evening. After 30+ years of friendship dating back to middle and high school it is safe to say we have a lot of stories and a bond of friendship that is unparalleled. The love this group of guys has for one another extends well beyond each other so needless to say it is one big family.
We have had many people ask what they can do to help and it was clear that the simplest and easiest way to help the Sinta family was to set up this Go Fund Me page. Chris & Lindsey are trusting the team of doctors at Rush to do everything they can from a medical perspective, but the Sintas are facing many burdens and obstacles as they help Aaron get healthy and also keep their lives as normal as possible. We have an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 to help with the expenses that go along with this battle. Any donation is greatly appreciated and we hope this money goes a long way to helping make the Sintas’ new normal a little less stressful so they can focus their attention on helping Aaron with his battle.
With much love and gratitude,
“The Ladies”
