Hello everybody. I'm about to "tell my story." My family and friends from Wisconsin all know me as Aaron. A handful of friends, employers, and professionals from Tucson know me as Aaron as well. And many friends from Tucson, Juneau, Idaho know me as Whitey. I would like to think that there are very few people anywhere that would not describe me as a generous, fun-loving guy who looks out for those he cares for. I have always enjoyed helping others out as much as possible. There are several friends who would say that the first timers they met me, I helped them bail out of jail, gave them money to fix their car, or bought them something they desperately needed. So, I would like to think I'm liked by just about everyone who has taken the time to get to know me. Pretty sure I am.
What I am asking help with is funds to help me pay rent and bills until Social Security kicks in and or until my hip is repaired so I can possibly help myself by getting a job. Cuz at this point I'm pretty much helpless. I can barely walk, so getting a job isn't an option, and Social Security is denying me, so... Well, here is what happened to me the morning of April 6th, 2022, the day of "the accident." The start of this nightmare I am living every day.
- On April 6th, 2022, I was heading east on Speedway Blvd in Tucson. It was morning, and I was on my 900cc Yamaha motorcycle. The sun blinded me, and I didn't see that the light had changed to red. Not only did I NOT STOP, I didn't even slow down a little. I ran the red light and hit a vehicle at 45 mph. I flew over the front quarter panel. In doing so, I suffered many injuries. My helmet cracked down the middle of my forehead and came off my head. So, my head bounced off the pavement, making me look like Quasimodo from the movie Hunchback of Notre Dame. They cut my left leg off below the knee. They drilled out my left femur and put a metal rod in it. My right hip was fractured, and they fastened a plate onto it. Both my wrists were broken. My right leg had road rash, i.e., rocks and concrete coming out of it for months. My right foot was broken. So, prior to this, I hadn't broken any bones in my life besides my jaw and nose. This incident made it feel as though I broke all my bones at once. I spent about ten days in the hospital and another two weeks in a nursing home. I couldn't walk with one leg gone and the other was broken up too. I had a cast on each hand. Shit, I couldn't wipe my own ass. Talk about being humbled. I finally got out of the hospital and waited for my stump to heal so I could get a prosthetic leg and walk. But the nightmare wasn't over. Two weeks later, I got a bone infection and had to be in a nursing home for six more weeks getting daily treatments of antibiotics. The whole ordeal of the accident, I believe, was God sending me a message. The message was very simple... He wanted me to make some drastic changes in how I was living my life.
So, from that day forward, I have given up that crazy lifestyle I was living. We all know I will probably never become a choirboy, but things must change, and they have and will continue to...
So, to further my story here, about six months after the accident, I was taken into custody for laws I had broken before the accident. I earned myself a two-year sentence in the Bureau of Prisons. While I was serving my two-year federal sentence, I was being transferred on Con Air. While hopping on one leg down a flight of stairs to deboard the plane, something broke in my right hip. I submitted 13 grievances and 20-something medical requests over the following 14 months and was ignored by the BOP completely. I am in the process of filing a claim against the BOP for this negligence and now wait for their decision. The struggle right now is I have no income at all. A couple of friends have let me sleep on their couch. God bless them for their generosity.
I applied for Social Security Disability and SSI. They denied me, and I am going through the process to appeal their decision. My right hip hurts a lot. I saw the doctor, and I need a full hip replacement. I can walk with a walker but only short distances. It's too painful.
At this point, I have been really struggling to keep a roof over my head and my belly full. Again, a couple of good friends have helped me with a place to stay. I'm currently staying at a weekly hotel again with a friend. I have managed to help him with rent here and there. Food stamps are all the help our great country has been able to pitch in. So, basically, I'm trying to get by until the SS appeal comes through. I have an appointment at the end of the month to see a specialist and make a plan to replace my hip. So, getting a job is not an option until we get that new hip. SS will or should come through; it's just a matter of time. So, keeping my head up is all I can do. And of course, pray to God. I believe He will provide. So please help Him with any amount. Because we all know it adds up. I can and will walk again. I'm determined to do so. I'm hopeful everyone who knows me will pitch in as much as possible. God bless those who do and God bless those who cannot afford to help. Love u all. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and say a prayer for me please. And remember God is good. ALL THE TIME
