Support Aaliyah's Fight Against Endometriosis

Hello! I am organizing this go fund me on behalf of my bestfriend Aaliyah Maura as she prepares for a medically necessary procedure to treat Stage 4 endometriosis that has spread to her lungs and in her diaphragm.

For the past two years, Aaliyah has been navigating the life-altering challenges of endometriosis—a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows in other parts of the body. While many know that endometriosis affects the reproductive system, fewer realize that it can also spread to other organs, leading to life-threatening consequences.

Aaliyah began noticing severe shortness of breath and a prolonged loss of appetite. After months of unexplained symptoms, a CT scan revealed a dangerous buildup of fluid around her lungs, leading to a month-long hospital stay where she was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and had to undergo two surgeries to regain her ability to breathe.

But the battle wasn’t over.

Only a few months after being discharged, another scan showed the fluid had reaccumulated. For now, she is on medication to temporarily suppress her reproductive system, but this is only a short-term solution due to its severe side effects. Beyond the physical toll, Aaliyah has endured an immense emotional burden. Navigating the complexities of her condition has meant countless hours researching specialists, facing the anxiety of not knowing when she might struggle to breathe again, and missing work due to medical appointments. The uncertainty of it all has been exhausting and overwhelming.

The only viable long-term option is surgical removal of the endometrial tissue by a specialized surgeon, but navigating this process has been incredibly difficult. The specialist is out of network, and there’s no guarantee that insurance will cover any portion of the surgery. Because of this uncertainty, the surgeon requires full payment upfront.

Additionally, the surgery will require Aaliyah to travel to Atlanta and remain there for at least a week for recovery and follow-up care, adding to the financial strain. With medical costs, travel expenses, and lost wages continuing to add up, she is facing an overwhelming burden.

This GoFundMe is a heartfelt request for support—any donation will be used to help cover Aaliyah’s surgery, travel expenses, and recovery costs. More than anything, she hopes that by sharing her testimony, she can raise awareness about the lesser-known symptoms of endometriosis and encourage others to trust God during their storms.
