Hi, my name is Zandon Baker, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart during what should have been one of the most joyful chapters of our lives. It all started with swelling of the feet and increased fatigued and she had went to her specialist high risk appointment and was told she needed to be admitted to the hospital My wife, Aaliyah Baker, is currently hospitalized with severe preeclampsia, a life-threatening pregnancy complication. We’re expecting our first child after 2 miscarriages so this is our miracle rainbow baby and blessed this one has gone smoothly up untill the past 2 weeks, Our baby girl we’ve already named Zorah Leilani Wren Baker — and now both of their lives are at serious risk. Recently, Aaliyah’s blood pressure spiked dangerously, and doctors diagnosed her with preeclampsia — a condition that threatens both mom and baby. To make things even more difficult, we’ve learned that Zorah is measuring smaller than expected for her gestational age at 25 weeks and she is barely a pound. meaning she may be struggling to grow properly in the womb. That makes the situation even more critical. The medical team is working around the clock to stabilize Aaliyah and give Zorah more time — every extra day in the womb is crucial. But the reality is that we may be facing an early delivery, and with Zorah’s small size and prematurity, the risks are high. I’ve had to still work and not be able to stay by Aaliyah’s side, and this situation has created an overwhelming emotional and financial burden. This is devastating me that I can't be by her side 100% of the time. This was unexpected as we do not have the financial resources to fund an emergency fund to help sustain ourselves during this time. Now we are navigating to figure out how to support ourselves for: Intensive hospital care for Aaliyah Constant monitoring and specialist consultations The real possibility of a premature birth A likely NICU stay for our baby girl for a extended period Travel, food, and living costs while i remain with her in the hospital We’re humbly asking for any help — no matter the size.
