Support a young Eagle Scout quadriplegic and his family
Donation protected
We are raising funds to improve the life of our friend, Connor Thomas, who tragically suffered a severe brain injury on the 18th of November 2023. The injury had left him in a state requiring 24/7 assistance from others and forced him to shift from an active, independent lifestyle to one of increased dependence on others, medication, and specialist equipment at 18-years-old. His mom Nancy is his 24/7 caregiver and she has been through an unimaginable struggle, and his parents are facing a difficult road ahead. We want to help make life enjoyable for them by raising funds to provide the care that Connor needs for his medical bills, homecare and to buy equipment that will help Connor regain some independence as a young man that he is. Connor had a bright life ahead of him, he earned an Eagle Scout Award, was certified lifeguard double black belt in taekwondo and enjoyed several summers supporting and enabling younger boy scouts. A giving and wonderful kind young man that had a bright future.
What Connor, and his family needs:
Connor is an outstanding young man that has been improving all the time but needs much more rehab to continue his recovery journey. Connor's medical bills are astronomical for his family, and it has put a heavy burden on his family life. Their insurance covered a small portion of his expenses, but still left them with a significant amount that they needed to cover. Their residence needs substantial improvements to accommodate the new life conditions for Connor, leaving a whole new set of modifications to carry out at significant cost. Given the nature of his injury, Connor needs a much more accessible room, with modifications for mechanical bed and wheelchair access both ease and safe to use.
Because of his injuries Connor needs a physiotherapist who’s trained to aid his recovery, and provide daily therapy so he can regain mobility. Maintaining his mobility will not only allow him to prevent the health complications; he was released to his home, but he is now at greater risk of losing his mobility if the therapy doesn’t continue. The proposed modifications and equipment will also make it possible for Connor to regain some mobility we all hoped for.
We hope that this fundraiser will go some way towards making it possible for Connor to live comfortably and to realize some of the plans he had for his life. Again Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, support, visits, donations, and help from family, friends, friends of family, friends of friends, and strangers. Truly Thank you!
