Tragic Fire Causes a Young Mother of Two Daughters to Lose Their Whole Home and Life Was Uprooted in Minutes
Please Help Rebuild!!
On August 6, approximately around 10:37 pm, I had finally gotten a moment to relax after dealing with so much earlier in the day. I settled myself for bed to end my night because I had to work the next day at 9:20 am. As I was almost sound asleep, I then came across popping sounds. I didn’t get up immediately because I thought something was just dropping because I do have an animal. After hearing the sound, a sharp smell of gunpowder filled the air. I froze.
The crashing noises grew louder. I ran to the kitchen, and as soon as I opened my bedroom door, a thick cloud of smoke hit my face, filling my lungs. I got out as soon as I could. I called SOS as soon as I could; it was about 11:10 pm.
This wasn’t just any home; it was the home I worked tirelessly to secure at just 19 years old, with a 1-year-old baby girl, Key’sia. Four years later, I had built a life there, raising both Key’sia (now 5) and my second daughter, Ha’nyah (age 1).
My home became a safe haven, not just for my daughters, but for friends, family, and even other children who had nowhere else to go. I opened my doors to those facing homelessness, never asking for anything in return.
Now, everything is gone.
All of my children’s clothes and toys. My furniture. Electronics. A kitchen full of food bought just two days before. Obituaries of loved ones. Family photos. Memories.
Everything is either destroyed by smoke, soaked by water, or damaged beyond repair. My floors are flooded. My home, the one I spent four years building from nothing, was taken in minutes.
