Support a Young Mom's Fight Against Cancer

Hi, my name is Jaime Garza and I am here to help raise funds for my friend, Caty. She is an incredible mother to 4 beautiful children, Hailey (15), Michael (13), Sophia (9) and Gianna (1), as well as a loving partner to her fiancé, Chris. Caty and her family have a long and extremely difficult fight ahead of them as Caty was just diagnosed with Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer, Stage 4. Since being diagnosed just over a month ago, we have now found out that the cancer has spread to her liver.

Caty had been aware of a lump in her breast for about a year along with undiagnosed symptoms a year prior to that and had been continuously assured by doctors and medical professionals that it was nothing to worry about. So much so, she felt safe to get pregnant with her youngest daughter and go on to breastfeed her. It wasn’t until Gianna was about 10 months old that she felt the need to demand an ultrasound wherein they discovered the lump was a malignant tumor.

To say this diagnosis blindsided her and her family is an understatement. Caty has otherwise been healthy throughout her 35 years and there is no history of cancer within her extended family. She is a very active and supportive mother. Caty is the true heart and pillar of their household. Of course I am here sharing Caty’s story in hopes to provide her and her family with extra financial support as they begin this insanely difficult journey - one no one ever wishes to be met with, but if you are reading this and are not in a position to donate at the moment, I do hope you take this message with you:

Do not doubt yourself or your body. If something does not feel right, listen to it. Advocate for yourself. There is no professional or other human for that matter who knows you better than you know yourself. So trust yourself when something does not feel right.
