Support a young med student’s fight for health and family
Donation protected
As a medical student and a newlywed just 1 year into her marriage with her best friend, Jinny should be planning a future as an aspiring mother and ED doctor. Instead, she is now faced with needing to undergo a life changing surgery to remove the cysts in both her ovaries after receiving a scan that showed multiple ovarian lesions, suspicious of malignancy.
As a young medical student, she has dedicated herself to Emergency Medicine—a field she describes as her “Ikigai,” her reason for being. This year, she’s become a familiar presence at Casey Hospital Emergency Department, spending countless hours on the floor, always there for people in their most critical moments. Her face lights up when she talks about her work, and her compassion shines brighter when she’s with children.
Whether she’s volunteering at the Royal Children’s Hospital ED, the Lighthouse Foundation, or RDA Doveton, she connects deeply, often inspiring the children around her. Her friends joke that if she hadn’t chosen medicine, she’d be the world’s most beloved primary school teacher.
Jinny also has an uncanny knack for sensing when someone’s down and approaches them to check in. She is not only kind and empathetic but also immensely committed to her aspirations, friends and family.
The diagnosis, therefore, comes as a shock to Jinny and everyone who loves her; and puts her aspiration to be a mother at risk.
We are seeking funds for her surgery, hospitalisations and possibly egg freezing — a chance to preserve the future she’s dreamed of. We are hoping to call for everyone’s help in supporting Jinny’s fight. Every and any contribution to this gofundme, big or small, brings her one step closer to a future filled with family, healing, and the profession she’s so passionate about.
