My name is Angela, I am a self employed massage therapist and single mother. I have never had a significant medical issue in my life….

Imagine my surprise when my heart rate spikes to 197 and would not go down. I found myself in the ER where they tried every medicine in the book to bring it down. As a last resort they had to shock my heart back into rhythm.

I was with two dear friends, on a retreat that had been gifted to me, called Healing the Whole Person with the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus just outside of Los Angeles, California. Thankfully I was able to get to the ER with help before it was too late.

I have been in the hospital ever since; the doctors were worried if I left, it could happen again or that the worst would happen - sudden cardiac death. After several tests I was diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia. I am receiving an ICD (internal cardiac defibrillator) to keep my heart in rhythm, tomorrow.

Here comes the request. I am reaching out to anyone who may be able to help in any way. The medical expenses are overwhelming, and I am terrified of falling behind on my bills and not being able to provide for my daughter. I have always tried to be strong and independent, but this situation has left me feeling helpless.

My hospital bills are already over $100,000 nearing $200,000 quickly. I am currently without any medical insurance for myself as I was in the process of applying after moving to my own office rental when this happened.

Not only have I not been able to work during this time, I will not be able to use my left arm for weeks in recovery. 10 days of immobility followed by 6 weeks of extremely limited use. (Also I am left handed). Anything at all would help. Thank you so much for your time and God Bless.
