Campaign Story

Introduction
Hello, my name is Viviana Carey. I'm a 52-year-old recently widowed mother of three, currently supporting two of my children: Brianna (16) and Robert (19), who has a learning disability.

After the unexpected loss of my beloved husband, Robert Carey, on April 28, 2024, our lives were forever changed. You can read more about his memory here: Robert Carey's obituary

On top of grieving this devastating loss, I was laid off from my full-time job earlier this year at Rite Aid due to the company closing. I’m now working part-time at ShopRite while actively applying for full-time positions. Despite my best efforts, we are now facing the immediate threat of eviction and homelessness.

Our Situation
We must leave our current apartment by July 18, 2025, and we have nowhere to go. We have no nearby family or friends to turn to, and due to our financial situation, we’ve been unable to secure a new place to live.

As a mother, it is heartbreaking to face the possibility of not being able to provide a safe and stable home for my children. Asking for help is deeply humbling, but I’m doing everything I can to hold our family together during this overwhelming time.

What Led Us Here
Becoming the sole provider after my husband's passing has been incredibly difficult — emotionally, physically, and financially. I have a high school diploma from 1992 and a strong work ethic with skills in customer service, food preparation, stocking, sanitation, and sales.

I’ve applied to numerous jobs, attended job fairs, and even started taking online training to build my qualifications. I've also sought help through emergency rental assistance, 211 services, and local aid programs, but most support has been delayed or unavailable.

Now, we've received a final eviction notice, and time is running out.

How You Can Help
We are urgently trying to raise $8,000 to cover outstanding bills and secure a stable living situation. Here's how the funds will be used:

Back Rent: $3,000

Pro-Rated July Rent: $830

BGE (Electric) Bill: $100

Verizon TV Bill: $141

Verizon Cell Bill: $372

Car Payment: $1,200

Car Insurance: $200

Food & Groceries: $200

Urgent Car Maintenance: $350

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a huge difference. I believe in complete transparency and will provide receipts and updates to show exactly how the funds are being spent.

Why This Matters
This isn’t just about paying bills — it’s about giving my children the chance to stay in school, to have a safe place to sleep, and to move forward in life without the trauma of homelessness.

Robert deserves stability as he continues to navigate life with a learning disability. Brianna deserves to finish high school without the fear of losing her home. And I want nothing more than to rebuild and provide for them.

Looking Ahead
I’m committed to turning things around. I continue to apply for jobs daily and am seeking opportunities to build long-term stability. Your support today helps us cross the bridge to that stability.

Call to Action
If you’re able to donate — thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you can’t give, please consider sharing our story with others. Every share, every kind word, and every dollar helps us move forward.

With Deep Gratitude,
Viviana, Brianna, and Robert Carey
