By utilizing GoFundMe, I’ve become a virtual busker. Rather than a street performance, mine takes place in a virtual world, taking historical geography as its context.

Here I am asking for financial assistance in developing and maintaining a website devoted to the life and times of that well-known American writer, Mark Twain. This site is not so much about Mark Twain—there are far too many people that know much more about him than I—as it is about the context of his life and how he might have felt about the world around him.

I feel this to be particularly important in these days when so many people believe that at some time America was Great. Perhaps the period of rapid industrialization of this country, and of much of the rest of the world, the lifetime of Samuel L. Clemens, can be considered as great. Perhaps not...
