Support a Veteran's Burial for Arthur E. Wilson
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Adair. My family and I are asking for your assistance in laying our father, Arthur E. Wilson, to rest. He served our country proudly as a Marine; he was on the chair for the NAACP; he worked with the Underground Railroad Committee and founded the Jacksonville African American History Museum(JAAHM); he gave numerous speeches on Black history at various colleges; he was inducted into the Jacksonville, IL Hall of Fame; he was retired from IDOC; and was working as security at the Capitol building in Springfield.
He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on May 5, 2025, and passed on July 1, 2025. We were told his cancer was treatable and thought we would have more time. Unfortunately, his myeloma was very rare and very aggressive. He never quit fighting (because Marines don't quit), but his body just couldn't take it.
We would like to honor the great man our father was with a veteran's burial. He had very little insurance from the State, and they are saying it could take weeks for the paperwork to go through. Any amount donated would be greatly appreciated as my family and I continue to navigate this difficult time.
