I AM 73 AND DISABLED AND WE ARE HOMELESS

On October 30, 2025, a NOTICE OF EVICTION (dated 10/22/25) was taped to our door. This notice said we were being evicted on November 4, 2025. This notice is the first thing we received – no prior warning and no notice of court date (which had already passed). WE HAD NO IDEA THAT OUR LANDLORD HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVING OUR RENT MONEY which we paid through a third party app called Flex. The apartment manager refused to discuss it with my husband. We need a lawyer to help us find out where our rent money disappeared to, but no pro-bono lawyers have responded when I reach out.

On October 27, 2025, my husband (age 58) was laid off from his job, along with 1,200 other employees. My husband has applied for unemployment but no word yet, and continues to apply for every job he can. Hiring is only done online now and most times there is no reply. There is a remote possibility he will be called back to his job but who knows when?

I am 73 years old and disabled, and unable to walk without a walker or wheelchair. I am/was physically unable to pack and move much. I am also going blind because Medicare does not pay 100% for cataract surgery. I now have no money for medication, medical supplies, or co-pays. My Social Security Benefit (About $1,400) is not due until December 9, 2025. I have never qualified for Medicaid because my husband worked.

Neither my husband nor I have any close family. My husband (a veteran) also has health problems, and now he has no insurance.

We are now staying in a weekly inexpensive hotel with tiny kitchenette with our two cats. We have given the contents of our pantry and refrigerator to a neighbor, so we also have no food. We are not located close to any bus lines and can only use UBER or LYFT (expensive) for transportation.

We have have lost ALL our belongings due to the EVICTION. We were physically unable to pack or move much. Also with no $$$ or car we were unable to move anything to storage. We had no time to sell anything except Chris' E-bike, which was his mode of transportation.

Have applied for SNAP benefits (FOOD STAMPS), but who knows how long that will take.

All help agencies are overloaded and have been no help at all. If you can manage to contact them, they respond with a list of agencies I have already tried to contact. Also, most help agencies require you physically come to them.

WE ARE DESPERATE!!
