Hi, my name is Sky, though legally it is still Jessica. My mom named me after a man, despite being AFAB, thinking a man named Jessica was the coolest thing. Funny how these things turn out!

I have the lovely experience of being transgender, disabled, and neurodivergent in a world that can be very unkind to someone with even one of these things. In 2020 I suffered from a repetitive motion injury, and in 2021 I injured myself saving my father's cat from a dog attack and I've been unable to do most of the things I used to since then. This includes trying to find work, as even small things like bending over or holding my phone put me in debilitating amounts of pain.

I was lucky enough to start transitioning not long after that, but as of last year I no longer have insurance, and routine medical appointments add up. It's a requirement to have lab tests for T every three months where I live, and up until now those appointments have cost about $700-800 a piece. If I'm lucky, I can pick up enough freelance work to earn about $100 a month. That's 8 months of work, required to be paid every 3 months.

That's not including my other required appointments, my psychiatry appointments in particular. Regular (monthly to tri-monthly) appointments and several medications required to keep my brain functioning run up into the hundreds every time.

I simply can't keep up, and I cannot simply stop my appointments, even if I wanted to.

I have such little control over what I'm allowed to do with my own life, but I'm going to make it work. I just know I can't do it alone.

The goal for this GoFundMe is an estimate for about a year's worth of healthcare for myself, only taking into account what I'm already receiving. The rest of it is to save up towards moving out of my parents' house, knowing I will never be financially secure or free to pursue what I need under their roof. When that time comes, I hope to be somewhere I can receive some sort of financial aid for all of this instead of relying on the kindness of people's hearts - and, ideally, with my partner whom I love very much and my sweet old kitty, who climbs under the blankets to snuggle with me every night.

It's a big ask, but I appreciate all the help I can get. Right now I urgently need about $1000 to pay off my outstanding bills, and from there on is an uphill battle to pay bills every three months. I only ask for the remainder of 2025 to be covered, from there on...I have to believe things will be better, then.
