After being a Chicago public school teacher for 23 years at the age of 49 years old, I suddenly began having seizures, leaving me unable to teach in the classroom. Now 11 months later I have had six separate seizure episodes and doctors here in Illinois have been unable to find the cause. The only answer is Illinois has been able to offer me is increases in medication.

Therefore , I have applied and been accepted to be seen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. My appointment is the week of November 3, 2025. I am very excited for this opportunity. However, the cost for the trip and the hotel stay there for the week required to be seen by the neurology team are we on my budget after all the medical cost I have incurred this year. I am hoping to reach out to anyone who’s willing to help me find an answer. I want an answer as to why a healthy 49 year old began having seizures for no reason.
