Support a Teacher Facing Injustice

Our community needs to come together to support this amazing teacher whose career was taken away from her, simply for being. This an injustice to this beautiful human. Let’s show her the kindness that there is in this world, especially when she needs it the most. Having her career in shambles she needs to figure out her next steps and she needs our help. Here is her story…
I am a transgender educator living in Texas and I have recently lost my job due to my gender identity. Here is my story.
Two weeks after starting a TikTok page I was apparently targeted by an online hate group that goes by the name “Libs of TikTok.” This organization has a well documented history of harassment, bullying, and often terroristic activities involving the lgbtq+ community. This hate and violence has in the past target school districts. I am now a victim of this group.
“Libs of TikTok” took a video off my TikTok page in which I expressed my joy at being called ma’am. In the video I complimented my students and sang their praises because, despite my never discussing my identity with them, they are part of a generation that accepts all identities. I expressed gratitude because if they are kind to me and accept me I am better able to educate them. I never mentioned a specific student in the video. I gave out no student information. Still, “Libs of TikTok” took issue with my trans identity and set about attempting to harass me.
I have received threats to all of my social media accounts despite each being set to private. I have also received bigoted hate speech and death threats in my school email account from people outside the school district who follow “Libs of TikTok.” In addition to harassing me personally, “Libs of TikTok” has also unleashed its followers on the school and have spammed the Red Oak ISD Facebook, X, and Instagram account with calls for my termination.
All of this has lead to me losing my job. I was forced to resign for my own safety. This leaves me with no source of income. I am struggling. I hate to have to ask for help, but I need help. Enough to pay my bills and start getting my life back on track.
