I’m writing on behalf of my friend Ahmed and his family, a Sudanese family of six whose lives were disrupted by the ongoing war in Sudan. After a long and difficult year, they were able to make it to Cairo where they are working hard to regain stability. But with limited resources and growing expenses, they need support to cover essential costs and get back on their feet.

Since the beginning of the war, Ahmed and his family have been displaced twice, each time leaving behind more of what they had built. In the process, they lost their home, their jobs, and all of their belongings. The family pooled everything they had to get everyone to safety, but Ahmed’s older brother was ultimately left behind in Sudan. Since then, he has faced immense challenges, having to relocate several times as conditions became increasingly unstable. His wife and children are now safe in Saudi Arabia, while he remains in Sudan, unable to leave due to the ongoing financial strain. Helping him reunite with his family remains one of Ahmed’s family’s main hopes.

Now, the family is left without any source of income and is struggling to make ends meet. Covering the cost of rent, food, and other basic necessities has become increasingly difficult. The two youngest siblings are both in college and need help paying for their tuition so they can continue their education without interruption. Ahmed has been studying programming online in hopes of starting a remote career to support his family, but without a laptop, he’s unable to continue his training or begin working. With limited opportunities available to them right now, financial support would allow the family to maintain stability and focus on rebuilding their future.

Ahmed and his family have always tried to manage on their own, but the situation has reached a point where outside help is urgently needed. The funds raised will go toward several key goals that would allow the family to regain stability:

$3,500 to help Ahmed’s older brother leave Sudan and reunite with his wife and children in Saudi Arabia, where he’ll have the opportunity to rebuild his life and find work.

$3,400 to cover tuition fees for Ahmed’s two younger siblings, ensuring they can continue their college education.

$600 for a reliable laptop so Ahmed can continue his training in programming and begin working remotely.

The remaining amount will be used to help cover six to eight months of basic living expenses, including rent, food, medical bills, and utilities, giving the family time to get back on their feet.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward easing their most immediate burdens, including rent, food, and education costs for the younger siblings.
