Hope was found January 13th in Central Phoenix. She was found with her mouth fixed open, a broken jaw, matted fur, and severely malnourished. She weighed in at only 4lbs 3 oz and was days away from death. She’s so far been to two vet clinics, a dental specialist, and is currently staying at an animal hospital. Due to a safety concern that unexpectedly arose after Hope’s story gained online traction I will be keeping these vets offices private until she has completed 24/7 care.

Hope was transferred to the incredible foster care of Natalie O. and Jacob O. who opened their door and hearts for this sweet cat that the world turned its back on. Because of Hope’s condition she has so far received fluids, antibiotics, 24/7 observation, an exclusively wet food diet, pain medication, and this is only the beginning. Vets found a hard mass on 1/17 and she was placed under anesthesia for x-rays. The vet reported she is a fighter and doing better than 90% of the cats he sees in this condition! She had a biopsy on 1/20 and we are still crossing our fingers and hoping for the best. Best case scenario is the mass is an infection that will clear with antibiotics then she will be able to move forward with jaw reconstruction surgery and is expected to be a whole new cat in six months!

If the mass is unfortunately cancer, because of its size and location there would be no further treatment and we would go the route of humanely euthanizing her so she doesn’t suffer- but we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping this isn’t the case. In this scenario all money fundraised would go to Alone No More dog rescue and the Arizona Humane Society.

Though this fundraiser is still in Dara’s name all money is being transferred to the fosters as soon as it is received.
