Hello!

I'm a 28 year old single mom who works full-time and is in college pursuing a doctorate degree in Pharmacy. My life was turned upside down when the home I rent started developing a fast-growing mold issue, which I assume was caused by the lack of proper insulation in the home and the increased humidity from all of the rain. The mold started by showing up on my lunchboxes and cookbooks on the top of my fridge, but even after throwing all of that away and cleaning/disinfecting, it has quickly spread to the ceiling, the air vents, kitchen floor, the living room carpet and onto my furniture.

I immediately contacted my Landlord the following morning after sleeping in my car once I discovered how quickly it was spreading, and he came out to inspect the home. He refused remediation and wiped the carpets and ceiling with vinegar and said that it should resolve the issue, along with the fact that I should get rid of my blackout curtains to let light in because it's a "natural disinfectant." He also stated the mold was due to a "cleanliness issue" when my home is clean. It may not be spotless but it's not anywhere close to being dirty enough to cause a mold problem.

I am currently staying with my son's father temporarily, but he's only letting me stay for a few nights and I have to find somewhere else to go ASAP. I live paycheck to paycheck and don't have the funds to pay first months rent and a security deposit on a home/apartment right away, so I'm hoping for a little bit of assistance so I can get myself and my son into another place to live that is safe and free of mold. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and mean the world to me.
