This BIPOC queer film project seeks to highlight the importance and immediate representation of queer trans/non-binary characters in the film.
Hi everyone, thanks for reading. My name is Govoi, and I am a queer, non-binary film director - person based in Berlin. I have directed several projects in the past, ranging from music videos to short films and documentaries. Atma, Recharge my soul, weightless, Blove to mention a few.
'Defaced' is a short BIPOC queer film project that I would like to bring to life, and with your help, I believe we can do it. Deface is quite special to me because, for the first time, I am also writing about a trans-non-binary character and working with them visually to see those possibilities that I also believe in and am part of.
The film takes place in an unpredictable future in Berlin. Two childhood friends meet after a decade of no contact on a blind dating app. So much has happened, but none has yet arrived into the present moment, Will they delve into sexual intensities or will the past build better bridges?
The project will be a mix of sci-fi, drama, and fantasy. It will be 25 minutes 25-minute project, starring two main characters Fami and Jive for the most part, and a few extras for one scene (Establishing scene). I have a crew of 12 people on the project eager to help make the film, but I need funds to at least feed them during the production, as well as money to help them navigate on set freely with their minor needs taken care of. I want the crew to have fun making queer projects together and intend to make a collective with this team going forward.
We're strategically allocating the majority of our donation towards production, prioritising essential technical requirements for the project, which will consume roughly half of our budget. To optimise resources, I've streamlined our shooting schedule to a maximum of five days from the initial seven and narrowed down locations to just three, with plans to further reduce them to ensure a sufficient and environmentally friendly production.
Join us in bringing this beautiful project to life and celebrating the essential representation of queer, black love. Your support means the world, helping us showcase the richness and beauty of these narratives that resonate deeply in all our lives. Whether through sharing or donating, your contribution is invaluable in realising this artistic vision. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
