This fundraiser is being created with heavy hearts.
During a dive, a scuba instructor and guide was involved in a serious emergency when a diver experienced life-threatening distress underwater.
Acting exactly as he was trained to do, he immediately intervened and did everything in his power to help.
Tragically, despite his efforts, the diver did not survive.
In the course of that rescue attempt, the instructor suffered decompression sickness (DCS)—a severe and life-altering injury that required urgent medical treatment and has resulted in significant medical bills, ongoing care, and time away from work.
So far Brendon has had to return to the chamber 3 times and it looks like at least a few more trips will be required.
This is a devastating situation on every level. Alongside the emotional weight of the incident, he is now facing mounting financial pressure at a time when his focus needs to be on healing—both physically and mentally.
Funds raised will help:
Cover emergency and follow-up medical treatment
Support recovery expenses not fully covered by insurance
Offset lost income while he is unable to work
No one expects to be financially overwhelmed for trying to save another person’s life.
This instructor acted with courage, professionalism, and compassion, and now needs the support of the community he has long served.
Any donation—large or small—will help ease the burden. If you’re unable to give, sharing this page is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for honoring both the life that was lost and the person who did everything possible to prevent that loss.
