Choosing Repair in a Moment of Transition

I’ve been given the opportunity to take in a horse at an important moment of transition.

She is sensitive, responsive, and honest. Recently, after a moment of fear on the trail, it became clear that the relationship she was in could not continue in a way that supported safety for both human and horse.

I was offered the chance to provide an alternative.

A trusted friend and horse woman thought of us to help offer her a home that would mutually benefit us both. This horse will become both a therapy horse and a demonstration partner in The Language Between — a program focused on relational safety, consent, and nervous system awareness across species. Her presence will help teach what it looks like to slow down, listen, and rebuild trust rather than move on quickly.

Bringing her in during winter comes with very real, immediate costs:

    •    Winter hay through spring

    •    Preparing a safe stall and transition space

    •    Professional trailering to support a low-stress arrival since she’s coming from out of state
