Support a Rochester Refugee Family After Tragedy
Donation protected
A member of Rochester’s refugee community has died after being struck by a car in a tragic accident on Lake avenue last Saturday afternoon. He leaves behind a wife and 7 children, ages 3 - 18, profoundly shocked and traumatized by the sudden loss. The family arrived from Mali in the Spring of 2024 and quickly became a beloved part of their adoptive community, especially at the Rochester International Academy where the children attend school, and a local mosque where the family received love and support as they resettled in the United States.
As the primary breadwinner, the deceased shouldered the responsibility of providing for his family in an unfamiliar country. His wife and children now face overwhelming grief and immediate financial hardship.
As teachers, counselors, and friends of the family, we are reaching out to our community for support. Funds raised will go directly toward essential needs such as funeral expenses, groceries, rent, and energy bills. Our goal is $10,000—to relieve urgent pressures and give this family space to grieve and rebuild. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make an impact. Please consider helping this family find comfort and stability as they face this unimaginable loss.
Alhamdulillah,
Teachers, counselors, and friends of the family
