In July, a Ravenswood parent was detained by immigration in front of the family’s home and transferred to a detention facility out of state. The family was able to consult with an attorney with the $250 consultation fee covered by expenses left over from another Ravenswood gofundme.
Unfortunately, the constant stress and fear of ICE has taken a toll on this family and they have decided to self deport together instead of facing an uncertain legal path forward and potentially lengthy detainment. Their attorney is able to represent them through this process to ensure that they are treated fairly and arrive in the correct country together, as a family.
Their attorney will charge 3$,000 for representation and another $2,500 if the family's case has been severed from the detained parent and will require additional work. We have left over funds from another fundraiser to cover some of this expense but are looking to raise another $2,000. Any funds not used to cover attorneys fees will either be put toward sending the family's belongings to their destination or saved for future immigration needs in our school community.
Thank you for your continued kindness as we try to support this family as much as possible on this journey.
