My name is Maggie/Magnolia (they/them) and I am a queer, non-binary 2nd year Marriage and Family Therapy M.A. candidate enrolled at a local university in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. I am currently working on my masters to become a LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed therapist and am looking forward to serving my community at my practicum site starting the summer of 2021. I intend to specialize in working with a diverse spectrum of individuals, couples, polycules and families in supporting them in their journeys navigating issues such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, major life events, polyamory/non-monogamy, intimacy, stigma, sexual behavior/dysfunction, substance use, communication, boundaries, grief and much more.
On November 4, 2020 I went on short term disability due to my C-PTSD and major depressive disorder symptoms becoming so severe that it impaired my ability to function at work. Prior to this my partner and I had several major financial setbacks due to unstable housing, unemployment, unexpected vet and car repair bills. We’ve unfortunately had to use up a large portion of our checking and savings accounts to stay afloat.
Throughout these financial and mental hardships I’ve been able to find purpose and peace in my grad school experience with my studies, my cohort and my professors. Becoming a therapist has been a lifelong dream of mine and I am truly humbled and ecstatic to be a part of this incredible soul work.
Soon I will be starting my 3rd and final year of graduate school starting in January 2021. I’ve applied for several scholarships and have received some financial aid for this next spring semester, however there’s still a large portion that I am unable to cover on my own.
Funds from this GoFundMe will go towards paying the following expenses:
- Spring 2021 Tuition - $1,360 (after using financial aid)
- Textbooks - $140
Donations beyond $1,500 are always welcome and will be applied towards medication, therapy bills and Summer 2021 tuition/textbooks expenses.
Any and all donations/shares are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support!
