Hello! The Queerie Canal is raising funds to benefit a queer family of 4 who recently relocated to Buffalo from the south in pursuit of safety and community. This family is raising money to pay their December rent.
A word from the aid seeker:
My family recently had to leave the place we were living because it became unsafe for us: unsafe in the way so many of us in the queer community understand all too well. My husband is a trans, mixed-race man, and the environment around us made it clear that our family wasn’t welcome, and wasn’t safe to stay.
We came to Buffalo looking for a fresh start, a place where we could finally breathe and exist without fear. But since arriving, my husband’s chronic illness has been flaring up severely, making it incredibly difficult for us to stabilize and build steady income.
We’re trying so hard to rebuild, but this month we’ve fallen short on rent. We’re turning to our queer community because you know what it means to fight for safety, for dignity, for a home where you can simply be. Any support would mean the world to us as we work to stay grounded in a place that finally feels safer.
About The Queerie Canal:
The Queerie Canal is a mutual aid project focused on helping trans people relocate from high risk areas to Buffalo, and integrating them into a trans mutual aid society.
