Hii I’m Alanis, though most call me Lani. I’m fundraising for my top surgery on April 15th! In the last four years as a barber in Brooklyn, I’ve met incredible people, clients and friends alike. This sense of community has brought me the last bits of confidence I needed to take this next step in my life after more than a decade of gender dysphoria.

The current changes in US administration are creating much uncertainty for trans people and our ability to access gender affirming care. I'm afraid that I won't have access to this surgery if I wait much longer.

Like many, I live paycheck to paycheck. This affects my ability to save up for top surgery. And as a barber, I don't have any income when I take time off.

My hope is to raise funds to cover my rent for the two months I’ll be recovering away from work, as well as some financial wiggle room to cover other recovery expenses like doctors visits, special pillows, scar tapes and oils, etc.
