This is what a typical rescue process looks like. It takes about 4-6 weeks for a puppy to go from what you see in the 'before' picture to what you see in the 'after' picture.
The monetary cost of this process is around $250. Of course, there are other types of 'costs' as well, such as time and energy needed for each puppy, looking for foster homes and adopters, interviewing them, visiting puppies at the vet, feeding and caring for the puppies, socializing them, collars and name tags, and transporting them to and from fosters and adopters. But we do that part gladly. I am asking for your help in covering the veterinary costs.
Here is a rough breakdown of one puppy's veterinary costs here in Bali for 1 week of treatment:
2 cycles of vaccines - $50
Parvo virus rapid test - $20
Distemper virus rapid test - $20
1 week's hospitalization - $30
Blood test - $60
Flea and tick treatments - $12
Skin treatment for fungal and bacterial infections - $18
Antibiotics - $20
Consultation - $10
Supplements - $10
= $250
This is the basic treatment if the puppy has no significant issues or injuries that require x-rays or surgeries.
The $250 allows them to receive the basic treatment and begin the process of recovery so they can start to look like the cute puppy they were supposed to be. Adopters don't like to adopt puppies that are straight from the street that look like malnourished wet porcupines :) They want to know that the puppy is healthy and friendly and their family is not at risk for contracting and fungal infection from the puppy or of losing a puppy to a virus. This is why we do this! We put the puppies through the process of veterinary care and socialization, get them healthy, cute and happy so they become 'adoptable'.
