Hello!

My name is Heather Lasher and I own and operate a childcare center in Brookville, PA. The children that I serve and care for daily mean just as much to me as the children that I birthed! Their safety and well-being mean more to me than anything, and I will do just about anything legal to always ensure they are safe and protected.

In recent weeks some situations have changed in our little area that will likely cause some discomfort to the exterior area of the building that we would like to begin construction on a privacy fence. Again, child safety is and always will be my main focus, and as much as I would like to think their safety will not be in jeopardy, history has an ugly way of repeating itself, and it is my ultimate job and priority to ensure that they are safe.

So, a little background to make you understand why this is so important now and wasn't such a priority when I purchased the business in April of 2022. Since the time of my purchase, until the recent weeks, the property that borders one side of the childcare center, was owned by and individual who caused zero harm, chaos, threats, or uncertainty. They lived there and never bothered us and we never bothered them.

In an effort to make an understanding of why this is so crucial now and not three years ago is because in recent weeks, this said property has changed ownership. The new owner, has a current 3 year PFA, (due to harassing, threatening behaviors to one of my staff) has been charged with a disorderly conduct due to inappropriate behaviors in front of children while they were getting off the school bus to return to daycare, and is NOT permitted on the daycare property for any reason due to trespassing and theft of services. (This is all public knowledge, and anyone who knows how to search the judicial system, can find this out. So, for anyone who may object and say I'm slandering anyone, that is not what I'm doing. I'm stating facts and explaining why this is so crucial and I'm looking out for the children I care for). For three years, there was a full property lot that protected the childcare center, children and staff, (and even that didn't always work until the law got involved), but this individual now owns that property and it has been verbalized multiple times that the mission is to quote "make the daycare's life hell".

For anyone who knows me personally, knows that I'm not afraid of much in this life, and I have went toe to toe with the individual who has purchased the property, but PFA's are just paper, and I can call the police every single time there's a disorderly conduct, but why not just save myself and our law enforcement who are already overworked some time, and just eliminate the interaction, by putting a privacy fence up!

As you can see in the pictures posted, the children go out to the playground to play and ask me "why is there a bathtub in the yard", "why is there junk/garbage everywhere". My response, "I don't know"!

Children should be able to go out to their playground and play and not have to look at junk, trash, burning who knows what and spreading whatever toxins come from fiberglass tubs, and whatever other objects that are getting burned.

Here's where I'm reluctantly coming to you for help! I absolutely feel terrible even asking for this, but after talking to multiple people, they felt this would be a great option to try. I have been self-sufficient for the three years I've been opened, but this expense is not something I had planned for or ever thought I would have needed. Unfortunately, because my childcare center is considered a for profit entity, I do not qualify to apply for many grants out there. I've reached out to some entities that could potentially donate, but it could be months before my request is reviewed and doesn't even guarantee that we would qualify anyway.

So, in an effort to do what my sole purpose always was when I opened to protect kids at all costs, here I am...at all costs! I have the quote and I have the fencing company lined up. I just need the funds to get it done.
