Support a Black Midwife After a House Fire
Donation protected
Please help with a donation to inspiring grand midwife Ummsalaamah, a dear friend of mine and a friend to many, join me in helping to restore her home and help with necessities after a devastating house fire on 3/10/2022.
If you are not familiar with her, here is Grand Midwife Ummsalaamah sharing her perspective on a panel about midwifery and birthing here.
There is no insurance coverage to cover any of the loss or costs for temporary accommodations such as housing or clothing.
With great sadness, we must share this news to help our dearest friend to many communities and to many nations, restore and rebuild her home, and help provide adequate housing, clothing, and other essentials while rebuilding all that was lost.
Most importantly, UmmSalaamah and her family are safe, and nobody was hurt, but on Thursday the 10th, she received a disturbing call that her home had caught fire and the fire department was there to try to put the fire out.
The majority of her and her family’s belongings were destroyed by the fire.
The Red Cross provided some funds for a few nights in a hotel. The fire department called a service that boarded up the house’s exterior parts that were still standing. Her and her family are safe and thankfully nobody was home when the fire ignited.
We need to continue to support her during this time with donations to this fund small or large. All donations will go to the restoration and rebuilding of her home and for clothing, appliances, and other basic necessities she will need now and for the months to come.
Below are some pictures of damage after the fire was extinguished.
Thank you for your time and consideration for our beloved friend who has dedicated her life to saving and uplifting others through midwifery, and who has always been there for so many of us during our time of need.
