Support a Nurse's Urgent Cancer Battle

My mother has been a nurse for over 30 years. She has always been one to put others before herself. If you needed a caregiver she is the one you wanted. All her patients and their families loved her. In February, she went for a regular screening and that's when things changed. At first, they thought she had breast cancer because of the location of the tumors they found, but it's not. She has Internal Melanoma that is very aggressive. There were no signs of cancer in November, and now it has spread into her lymph nodes and other areas and is a Stage 3 already.

Her treatments are not totally covered by insurance, and she has considered stopping because of the cost despite me pleading for her not to. I have a small amount I've managed to save over the years, but it's only going to get us so far. I'm not eligible for any large loans at this time. Each treatment is approximately $4,000 and she will need at least 5 treatments before surgery. Then continued treatments for another 12 months.

She has always done what she could for others, so now I'm asking others for help for her.

The only real treatment for this is surgery, but they have to decrease the size of the tumors first, and that is where the heavy costs come in. They are planning on 5 rounds of infusion therapy and then surgery for removal. We are working our way through the treatments, but they are taking their toll. The infusions are where the costs come in since each treatment is not fully covered by her insurance and costs nearly $4,000 on our side of things.
