It’s 2008. In their last year of high school, emo kids, Mimi and Ash, negotiate an increasingly troubled friendship while bonding over their shared, Tumblr-based obsession with two school shooters from 1998.
Crush/Slash is a new play that investigates the rage of teenage girls, the homoerotic bonds of crushes and fandoms, the perversity of true crime obsession, and the forgotten nightmares of 2000s Internet culture.
Madison Wetzell (playwright) and Cassidy Kepp (director) began exploring this work together as part of Brooklyn College's MFA program, but it has yet to see a full production.
For one night only (August 7 at 9:30), we are putting this show up at LimeFest, the Tank's zesty summer festival celebrating new works by womxn, non-binary, and gender non-conforming artists.
Your contribution will go exclusively to paying our small but mighty cast and crew for their time and labor.
Our cast is:
Natalia Soto
Ana Morgan
Jake Okula
Ned Bannon
We have once short month to reach our goal. Any amount helps!
As you likely know, new plays and new play festivals are community endeavors. We are truly grateful to those who can support us in doing the work we love.
